Spontaneous Accomplishments of Wishes and Pacification of Obstacles
During this session, we do group meditation with prayers and mantra recitation. This includes prayers to Guru Rinpoche, reflecting upon his qualities to develop devotion, prayers for spontaneous accomplishments and pacification of obstacles, etc. This will be followed by meditation with “vajra guru” mantra recitation.
Guru Rinpoche (Padmasambhava) is known as the second Buddha. Through his enlightened intent and compassion, the esoteric teachings of Buddhism were preserved in Tibet. Guru Rinpoche represents the perfection of a Vajrayana Guru, through his precise instructions and advice, the power to enable the practitioners through blessings, the power to remove obstacles (external and internal) in the path and by being a perfect source of refuge who guides and protects disciples in all stages of practice. In Guru Rinpoche the wisdom, qualities and activities of all Buddhas are condensed into one. Thus, practicing and accomplishing Guru Rinpoche is same as practicing and accomplishing all the Buddhas.
To those who engage in practice, Guru Rinpoche appears in dreams, in pure vision and in various other ways to constantly provide guidance. Faced with difficulties, if one remembers Guru, one will be able to immediately connect with the inner wisdom and transcend the difficulty. When setting out to accomplish a benevolent task, if one remembers Guru, one will be able to connect with the spontaneously accomplishing nature of one’s own innately pure mind. When setting out to practice a deity to accomplish enlightenment, remembering Guru brings the empowerments that ripen our mind-stream and enable us to accomplish the deities. When we intend to rest in the original nature of the mind, remembering Guru, one can immediately see the great expanse of the nature of mind, pacify all discursive thoughts and rest in the clear luminosity of wisdom awareness.
We will be dedicating the merit of this practice for the benefit all beings. In addition, you are also welcome to make requests for dedicating the benefit and merit from the session for anyone in particular for dispelling obstacles and swiftly accomplishing positive wishes.
Suitability: To engage in this practice with full understanding, an empowerment of Guru Rinpoche and oral transmission of the prayers is required. However, those who do not have these can also join in, participate in the prayers and meditation and receive benefit.
